With a background in fashion, founder Jessica Cognetta conceptualised SOLAQUA while packing for an Italian holiday. She wanted a light-weight towel in a muted palette that would last the European Summer and beyond, yet couldn’t find the quality she coveted. Research into sustainability and ethical standards saw Jessica partner with a third-generation Loomer based in Turkey.
From our inception, SOLAQUA was more than just a towel company – we are an ethical and environmentally conscious, female-owned and operated label. We value traditional craftsmanship and support a community of makers. Each piece is a work of art, hand-loomed by skilled artisans on a vintage loom from the 1960s.
Our stance on sustainability
From products to packaging, we are 100% plastic-free. Our cotton is sustainably sourced and 100% organic. Our SOLAQUA boxes are constructed using sustainably sourced paper, from certified plantations. To print, we use soy-based inks. As we grow, it is our mission to continue to be environmentally and ethically responsible.
